Pros of Travel Social Work With Planet Healthcare

1. Impressive Benefits

One of the best aspects of travel social work with Planet Healthcare is that they offer a wide range of benefits. Better yet, they can provide benefits for both you and your entire family.

Some of the notable benefits they mention on their website include:

  • Medical (PPO, PPO HD, HSA) & vision insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible spending account (FSA)
  • 401K program (After 90 days of continuous service)
  • Basic life insurance & supplemental life insurance
  • AD&D insurance
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Paid holidays
  • Weekly direct deposit
  • Referral bonus program
  • Relocation support

Additionally, when you work with this agency, you are considered a W-2 employee rather than an independent contractor. Ultimately, this can make your situation much simpler come tax time.

2. Diverse Array of Specialties

While the job listings for travel social workers are sparse, they do recruit employees with a diverse array of specialties and licensure levels.

In fact, as of this writing, we even found an opening available to BSW candidates. Keep in mind, though, that the majority of positions require at least an MSW or LMSW, but more frequently an LCSW or LICSW.

We should note that we found positions for multiple social work specializations, including:

  • Home Health
  • Emergency Department Case Management
  • Behavioral Health Integration Technician

While we only saw a total of five social work job listings, they were in states across the country, including Massachusetts, Kansas, and Connecticut.

3. Dedicated Recruiters

One more great thing about travel social work with Planet Healthcare is that you’ll have access to a dedicated recruiter. According to their website, they take an active approach in identifying opportunities for you to pursue.

Additionally, they claim that they often get their candidates hired in two weeks or less. Once they’ve identified a position for you, they’ll brief you on:

  • The facility
  • Position details
  • What the facility is looking for
  • Interview preparation

They’ll also assist you in developing your career path, helping you identify goals, update your resume, and provide skills advice.

Ultimately, this agency’s goal is to form a long-lasting relationship with their candidates. By helping you find opportunities, improve your skills, and gain more experience, they can place you in higher-level positions later on.

Cons of Travel Social Work With Planet Healthcare

The biggest downside to travel social work with Planet Healthcare is the lack of listings. In fact, as of this writing, we saw only five openings for social workers.

Additionally, some of these listings appeared to be a bit old and outdated. For example, two of the listings were posted all the way back in November 2023. So, it’s unclear whether or not these opportunities are still available or if they’ve expired.

Finally, one more con of this agency is that we didn’t see an estimated pay range listed for any of the travel social work assignments.

Since compensation is important in determining whether you want to take on an assignment, this could make it more difficult to find contracts meeting your needs.
