Why Choose Travel Social Work With Voca?
Voca travel social work agency sets itself apart by offering a substantial benefits package to support both your physical and financial well-being. This even extends to aspects of your personal life, such as pet insurance and a generous employee assistance program.
Their diverse assignment locations across the United States mean that you have the chance to explore new cities and communities, enriching your personal and professional life.
Meanwhile, their Quick Apply option simplifies the initial application process, allowing for a swift assessment of potential fit without the commitment of a full application.
Despite some drawbacks, such as the lack of detailed job listings, positive feedback from those who’ve worked with Voca in signals their commitment to support and communication.
This, coupled with the unique benefits and opportunities offered, makes Voca a potentially appealing option for travel social work.
Pros of Travel Social Work With Voca
1. Good Benefits
One of the best aspects of travel social work with Voca is that they provide an impressive array of benefits.
For example, after completing 2080 hours of continuous employment with the company, you’ll receive 40 hours of paid vacation.
Additionally, they offer:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Short-term and long-term disability insurance
- Life insurance
- Dependent care FSA
- Pet insurance
- Employee assistance program (EAP)
- $250 referral bonus ($500 if you’re on an assignment at the time of referral)
2. Diverse Assignment Locations
While Voca doesn’t list quite as many travel social work contracts on their website as some of the other agencies we’ve looked at, they do have a decent amount of opportunities. As of this writing, there are 15 available assignments.
Of these available contracts, nine were in different cities across the nation. While we found five LCSW jobs in Camp Pendleton, CA, we also saw two different listings in Oklahoma City, OK.
There are listings in other states all across the country as well. So, whether you’re looking to work in New York, Florida, Michigan, or others, you might find the right opportunity for you.
3. Quick Apply Option
If you want to see if you’re a good candidate for travel social work with Voca before undertaking the time-consuming application process, they offer a quick apply option.
Unlike full applications requiring more detailed information, quick apply allows you to just fill out your basic contact details. All this requires is:
- Name
- Phone number
- Resume
By using this option, you can talk with a Voca representative before potentially wasting your time with a full application.
Cons of Travel Social Work With Voca
The biggest con of Voca travel social work agency is the lack of detail in their job listings. Most notably, they do not provide an estimated pay range for assignments on their website.
Additionally, the listings don’t provide any background on the contracts other than location, required weekly hours, and shift type (for example, day 5×8).
Due to this lack of detail, we aren’t sure if this agency works with social workers other than LCSWs. While some listings explicitly list the job titled as “Social Work – Licensed Clinical Social Worker”, others list it as “Social Work – Social Worker”.
While this difference in job title does lead us to believe they work with more than LCSWs, we can’t say so with certainty.
So, if you’re an MSW or LMSW interested in travel social work with Voca, you’ll need to reach out directly to see if you may qualify.
Voca Travel Social Work Agency Reviews
Unfortunately, the only review we found for Voca from a social worker was from 2017, which is quite a while ago. While it was overwhelmingly positive, we also weren’t sure if it was for a travel or permanent position.
However, we were able to find a few reviews from other traveling healthcare professionals who have worked with this agency.
For example, one reviewer on Indeed wrote:
“Communication was kept throughout my onboarding process and my recruiter was BEYOND amazing getting me through every step. She was able to place me exactly where I wanted to work and gave me my desired hours.”
-Nursing Station Technician from Minneapolis, MN (April 29, 2023)
Another reviewer on Glassdoor also praised the Voca agents and communication, but noted a high turnover of recruiters:
“Whenever I am up for reassignment, my agents have gone above & beyond to get me placed & I couldn’t appreciate that more… If there’s an issue or I just have a question, someone always gets back to me… I’ve been contracted with Voca for just about 2 yrs & I’ve had 3 different agents since originally signing on. No introduction. Just dropped & handed over to the next agent in line.”
-Surgical Technologist (October 24, 2023)
