Pros of Travel Social Work With Aequor
1. High-Paying Contracts
One great thing about working with Aequor travel social work agency is that they offer a plethora of high-paying contracts.
While there weren’t any jobs paying over $3,000 per week like some other agencies as of this writing, nearly 20 listings offer over $2,000 per week.
The highest-paying listing we saw provided over $2,600 per week in compensation.
Better yet, the large majority of the assignments we found paid at least $1,600 per week. Meanwhile, the lowest-paying gig we found paid about $1,200 a week. Only three assignments offered weekly compensation less than $1,600.
However, we should note that seven of the assignments listed did not mention how much they paid.
2. Lots of Job Listings & Locations
Aequor also has a relatively large number of job listings. In fact, there were nearly 50 openings as of this writing. There were gigs listed in 22 different states, from California and Alaska to New York and Texas.
Better yet, we found assignments for multiple types of social work specializations and licensure levels. For example, we saw contracts requesting school, early childhood, hospital, and med-surg social workers.
Additionally, you can work with this agency whether you’re an MSW or LCSW.
However, it’s unclear from our research whether or not BSW or LBSW candidates can apply. While many of the assignments we saw call for a social worker, they didn’t specify what licensure level was required.
3. Great Benefits
This travel social work agency also provides an impressive array of benefits. In fact, the job listings we looked at provide all of the following benefits:
- Health Insurance
- Dental Insurance
- Vision Insurance
- Life Insurance
- Accident & short-term disability coverage
- Housing assistance
- Loyalty Program
- Holiday pay (depending on the client)
- 401k offer
- 24/7 customer support
4. Ambassador/Referral Opportunity
Aequor also offers you the opportunity to make more money by referring other social workers to their agency. In fact, after referring 10 or more people, you can earn up to $1,500 per referral.
If you have a large network of social worker friends who may be interested in traveling, you can turn this into a very profitable side hustle. The agency will even give you access to creative tools and template kits, social media training, and ambassador community.
They offer different amounts of referral bonuses based on how many people you refer:
- Sponsor: $500 for your first two referrals
- Influencer: $750 for your third through sixth referrals
- Recruiter: $1,000 for your seventh through ninth referrals
- Ambassador: $1,500 your tenth and any additional referrals
They pay out the bonus as soon as your referred worker completes their 13-week assignment.
5. Useful Licensing Resources
Finally, this travel social work agency provides useful information regarding licensing directly on their website. This can help you navigate the often-complicated ecosystem of social work licensing.
To get started, you first need to go to their licensing map resource. From there, click on the state you want to work in, scroll down to the “Allied & Schools” section, and select “Social Work”.
There you’ll find important links like:
- The state social work board website
- The state social work license verification website
- Contact information for the state social work board
You can also easily see if your state has enacted legislation to join the counseling compact. The compact allows social workers to obtain a multi-state license and practice in other compact states without obtaining additional licensure.
While the compact will only go into effect once seven states have enacted the legislation, this is sure to be a useful resource if more states enact the legislation.
For now though, only South Dakota and Missouri have enacted the compact, while many other states have introduced legislation to do so.
Cons of Travel Social Work With Aequor
The biggest downside to travel social work with Aequor is that the agency’s job listings lack detail.
For example, we mentioned earlier that it was unclear whether or not BSW and LBSW candidates can apply for contracts where no specific licensure level was indicated. So, although we’re not 100% sure, we believe you’ll need to be an MSW, LMSW, or LCSW to work with them.
Additionally, several of the assignments didn’t list the amount of compensation you receive. While the large majority of them did, it could be frustrating if you see a gig in your desired location but can’t figure out how much it pays right away.
Finally, their job listings didn’t really provide any background for the assignments. With most other agencies, they’ll at least write a paragraph or two about what responsibilities you can expect and qualifications you need.
However, this agency only provides the following information:
- Start date
- End date
- Weekly pay rate (usually, though some lack this info)
- Contract duration (ie, 8 weeks, 13 weeks, duration of school year, etc.)
- Shift type (ie, days, nights, etc.)
