Why Choose Travel Social Work With Focus Staff?

Focus Staff travel social work agency stands out for its commitment to offering high-paying job opportunities. With most positions offering salaries exceeding $2,000 per week, this company positions itself as a leading provider of lucrative travel social work assignments.

Furthermore, their comprehensive benefits package, including immediate health insurance coverage and a 401k plan, highlights their dedication to the well-being of their employees.

The convenience of tax-free reimbursements for travel and licensing costs adds an additional layer of support for social workers transitioning to new states, making the logistical aspects of moving less burdensome.

Moreover, Focus Staff’s streamlined application process reflects their understanding of the busy lives of social workers, offering a quick and efficient way to connect with potential job opportunities.

Despite the challenge of a limited number of job openings, Focus Staff’s regular updates and specialized focus ensure quality over quantity. Overall, this provides a tailored and supportive experience for Licensed Clinical Social Workers looking to travel.

Pros of Travel Social Work With Focus Staff

1. High-Paying Job Opportunities

One great aspect of working with Focus Staff travel social work agency is that they offer a number of high-paying contracts. In fact, most of the gigs currently listed on their job board pay over $2,000 per week as of this writing.

The highest-paying opportunity was for an LCSW travel social worker in Worthington, MN and pays $2,739. We also found other contracts paying $2,635 and $2,506 in Spokane, WA and New Haven, CT, respectively.

While there are a few lower-paying jobs, like in Jackson, MI for $1,173 and Austin, TX for $1,853, the majority of contracts pay between $2,000 and $3,000.

2. Great Benefits

Another nice thing about working with Focus Staff is that they offer a host of great benefits.

Most notably, they provide medical, dental, and vision insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. According to the agency’s website, BCBS is one of the biggest health insurance networks available in the nation.

Better yet, insurance coverage begins the day you start your assignment. However, we should note that you lose benefits at the end of your contract if you don’t start your next contract within two weeks of the previous one ending.

Focus Staff also offers a 401k once you complete 90 days of employment. They “match 100% on the first 3% deferred, and 50% on the remaining 4% deferred.”

Finally, this travel social work agency will help you find housing. While they don’t explicitly state if this is through their own housing or reimbursement, they do note that you’ll have lots of accommodation options when you work with them.

3. Tax-Free Reimbursements

Focus Staff will reimburse you for your travel expenses to get to your assignment, including car travel and airfare.

Additionally, since social work licensing is done through each state independently, you’ll need to obtain state-specific licensure before you can begin working in a new state. This means you may need to complete additional requirements, and you’ll incur costs to obtain your new license.

Fortunately, this agency will reimburse you for the costs associated with your new state social work licensure.

The company also makes special note of other tax-free reimbursements, so be sure to ask your recruiter about other ways you can save.

4. Quick Application

Finally, if you don’t feel like taking the time to fill out a full application, you can opt to complete Focus Staff’s Quick Application.

You can finish the quick application in just a minute or two, unlike the full application requiring your work history, resume, and references.

This way, you can get in touch with the company to see if you may be a good fit, saving you the hassle of filling out an entire application for potentially nothing.

Once you fill out the quick application, Focus will also ask you to complete a quick skills self-evaluation. This should only take a few minutes, and will give the recruiters a good feel for your skillset. This will help you and the agency determine if you may be a candidate for any of their job openings.

Cons of Travel Social Work With Focus Staff

The biggest downside we found to working with Focus Staff travel social work agency is the lack of job openings. In fact, as of this writing, there were only 11 jobs across 9 states.

While this is more travel social work listings than some other companies, there are certainly a few bigger agencies with more opportunities.

However, it’s worth noting that the company does update the listings regularly. For example, when we sat down to write this article two days ago, there were only 10 listings. This means they added at least one new contract opportunity in the last two days.

Additionally, Focus Staff only has listings for Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Depending on your licensure and experience level, this may mean you won’t find any contracts you qualify for. To be fair though, the bulk of travel social work assignments are for LCSWs, which is why we recommend you pursue this level of licensure if you want to travel.
